This Privacy Policy explains what information DNSTrustCheck ("we", "this site") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. This site is operated by Gary Thomas.

What this site does

DNSTrustCheck lets you run DNS, WHOIS, SMTP, and email-authentication lookups against a domain you provide, and displays the results back to you. Domains and email headers you submit for a scan are sent to our server to perform the lookup and are not stored beyond what's needed to return the result to your browser, unless stated otherwise below.

Information we collect

We collect the minimum needed to operate the site and keep it secure:

Domains and headers you submit. When you run a scan or paste email headers into the analyzer, that input is sent to our server to perform the lookup and generate your results. It is processed to return your result and is not linked to your identity or sold to third parties.

Basic technical logs. Like most web servers, ours may log standard technical information (IP address, browser type, timestamp, pages requested) for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing errors.

Local browser storage. If you export a scan, your browser may save a copy of that scan result in local storage (on your own device only) so the "Compare to Last Saved Scan" feature can show you what changed on a later visit. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us.

Cookies and advertising

This site shows a cookie consent banner on your first visit. Until you accept, no advertising or non-essential cookies are set.

If you accept, this site may use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a participating vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.

You can withdraw or change your cookie choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will show the consent banner again on your next visit.

Donations (Stripe)

The "Support" link in the site sidebar lets you make an optional, one-time donation if you find the tool useful. That link takes you to a payment page hosted entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Your card details and any other payment information you enter are sent directly to Stripe and are never seen, transmitted to, or stored by this site's own server. Donating is entirely optional and has no effect on your ability to use any feature of this site. Stripe may process your payment information under its own privacy policy, linked above.

Your rights (EU/EEA/UK visitors)

If you're located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR regarding personal data we may hold about you, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of that data. Since this site does not require an account and does not knowingly retain personally identifying information beyond standard server logs, there is generally little to no personal data tied to you to act on, but you're welcome to contact us with any request or question.

Data retention

Scan inputs (domains, headers) are processed to generate your result and are not retained in a database after your session. Basic server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and diagnostic purposes, then rotated out.

Third parties

Aside from the advertising described above, this site does not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties. DNS, WHOIS, and blacklist lookups are made to public infrastructure (nameservers, WHOIS registries, DNS blocklists) as a normal part of performing the check you requested; this is the same as your own computer querying those services directly.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time as the site's features change. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
